Do you want to shine a light on the daily decisions of councils, to ensure politicians keep their promises and to break essential stories about public interest issues?
We are looking for someone to join us as a Local Democracy Reporter to live and breathe the decisions being made by Nottingham City Council, Nottinghamshire County Council and its districts.
From the state of roads to local schools to new recycling services, every one of us is affected by the decisions that councils make.
You will be part of a team of 165 reporters working throughout the UK to hold local authorities to account through a BBC-supported service. Your work will mean that everyone in Nottinghamshire will get to hear about what their councils are doing in their name.
If youre a politically-minded reporter, ready to stalk the corridors of power in Nottinghamshire searching for brilliant and engaging stories for our audience then this is the position for you!
Were looking for fresh ideas and new perspectives from people from a wide range of backgrounds, and we want you to tell us the stories you believe are important from our many communities so we can continue to diversify our content.
So, who are we?
We are Reach Plc, you might not have heard of us but we have probably met without you even realising it. We are home to the UK and Irelands most iconic digital platforms, magazines and newspapers. From the Mirror, Daily Express and OK!, to our regional titles such as the Liverpool Echo, BirminghamLive and the Manchester Evening News (plus lots more), our brands and the stories we cover are as varied as our people. We help all kinds of people share experiences through our stories because we believe this is what makes us human.
Oh, and we should probably also mention that with a monthly readership of 47 million people, Reach is the largest commercial publisher in the UK. At Reach, not only will you feel better understood, you will also feel you understand other people better too.
This role is home and hub based linked to our Nottingham Hub, working 2 days (minimum) per week from the hub. We are therefore open to candidates based in and around Nottinghamshire.
